CMS students attend special concert series by Charlotte Symphony Orchestra

Thousands of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students get a special musical opportunity this week.

Elementary school students filled the Belk Theatre Monday morning to experience a wide range of orchestral music from the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra.

“The idea is to give them an experience that kind of goes above and beyond where they would have in their everyday classrooms,” said CMS performing arts specialist Derek Smith.

The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra will host two more days of their “One Musical Family” Education Concerts, welcoming a total of 12,000 fifth-graders to the theater.
