CMZoo warns of admission ticket scam

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo (CMZoo) is warning its followers on social media of scammers who are targeting AZA-accredited zoos and their visitors.

CMZoo posted on Facebook on Tuesday, Feb. 20, and said many of its fellow zoos had been targeted by fake accounts and scammers claiming to offer deeply discounted admission tickets to various zoos.

“We have not yet had to turn guests with false tickets away, but we won’t be surprised if a similar scam starts targeting our social media followers,” CMZoo said.

CMZoo offered tips to avoid being a victim of a scam like this:

  • Valid CMZoo tickets are only available at cmzoo.org.

  • Do not purchase tickets from any other website, through a social media platform or otherwise.

  • The only discounts CMZoo will honor are the discounts listed on their website and available at checkout, at cmzoo.org.

CMZoo asked its followers on social media to keep an eye out for posts offering discounted admission to the zoo, and to send those posts to CMZoo.
