Coach Kenny Payne deserves patience. U of L basketball's win over FSU shows potential.

I'm probably in the minority, but I feel like patience is still needed for Coach Kenny Payne and the U of L basketball team. The win over Florida State last weekend gave us a glimpse of the potential this team has. It's the first conference game where we put two good halves of basketball together. Previously, we were in a habit of getting down by large margins in the first half and then mounting a comeback in the Second half of games only to fall short.

Please refer to the article in this newspaper that listed the impressions of our team from the other coaches in the ACC. They obviously know basketball and coaching much more than the vast majority of fans.

Kenny Payne gets it: There are no quick fixes for U of L. What he needs is time and support.

Also remember this is a very young team. Against FSU we started two freshmen, two sophomores and one junior, then quickly brought in Ty-Laur Johnson at point guard who is a freshman. These players have been able to gain a lot of playing time and experience this season and the results are beginning to show.

I feel like Kenny Payne is the right man to coach this team. He was hired and given a very difficult task, and only returned two players from last year's team who had any significant playing time. KP knows what this program needs to look like and has the Championship experience to bring to this program again.

Let's be patient and give him at least another year to see what he can do.
