Coachella Valley Unified school board meeting canceled due to lack of quorum

Coachella Valley Unified School District is a school district in the eastern Coachella Valley.

The Coachella Valley Unified school board meeting scheduled for Thursday night was canceled due to a lack of quorum on the seven-member board.

The meeting will likely be rescheduled to some time next week, according to district spokesperson Patrick Sinclair.

Students and teachers have protested at three consecutive board meetings advocating for better pay for educators and school staff and improved safety measures at high schools following a series of lockdowns at Desert Mirage and Coachella Valley High.

The board was scheduled to review safety measures and possible next steps to improve school safety and climate.
