Coal City edges Pontiac in boys' dual

COAL CITY — Zayn Eilts was low for Pontiac and freshman Cayden Masching was a stroke behind, but the Indians were unable to better host Coal City as the Coalers claimed a 186-194 decision in a boys' golf match at Cinder Ridge Golf Course Wednesday.

Eilts shot 46 and Masching came in with a 47 to pace the Tribe. Zach Masching tallied a 49 and Michael Kuska, Peyton Von Holten and Nolan Mennenga each finished at 52.

Ryne Phelan was medalist with a 44 in leading Coal City.

Pontiac-Dwight

Pontiac edged Dwight on Monday 173-175 at The Oaks at River's Edge in Pontiac. Kuska was medalist with a 39 and Von Holten came in with a 44. Cayden Masching and Zach Masching each tallied a 45 to complete the team scoring. Eilts had a 50 and Mennenga shot 52.

Jack Groves had a 41 for Dwight. Andrew Gartke tallied a 43, William Trainor shot 44 and Dawson Carr shot 47. Jace Gall had a 53 and Reid Gall chalked up a 54.

Prairie Central Hawks

BLOOMINGTON — Prairie Central competed at the Mia Gordon Memorial Invitational at The Den at Fox Creek Wednesday and finished with a 341. There was no team placement or information beyond the PC players.

Carson Friedman finished third overall in leading the Hawks with a 73. Easton Friedman had a 85 and Tucier Stoller finished with an 89. Teegan Quinn's 94 completed the team scoring. Connor Gibson had a 113 and Tony Schahrer tallied a 115.

Prairie Vista Invite

Playing on the course for the Class 1A state championship in Bloomington, Prairie Central finished in a tie for fifth place with two other teams at the Prairie Vista Invitational.

Due to the fifth-player score, the Hawks finished fifth in the 17-team field with a 348. Tourney host Cornerstone Christian Academy and Litchfield also finished at 348. PC's fifth scorer was three strokes better than for both CCA and Litchfield. Peoria Christian won the event with a 321 and Beecher was second at 328.

Carson Friedman was low for Prairie Central with a 75, which placed him tied for third overall individually. Teegan Quinn came in with an 84, Tucker Stoller had a 94 and Tony Schahrer shot 95 to complete the team scoring. Connor Gibson had a 96 and Easton Friedman shot 98.
