Coalgate woman killed in early Wednesday crash

Nov. 4—A Coalgate woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash northeast of Atoka on U.S. 69 Tuesday.

The incident occurred at 4:37 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. 69 and State Highway 131.

According to a report from Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Jamey Miller of the Atoka county detachment of Troop E, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Ashley Collins, 37, of Coalgate was eastbound on OK-131, when it failed to yield at stop sign and was struck by a 2021 Freightliner driven by Kyle Cauley, 45, from Caddo Mills, Texas.

The report indicates Collins was ejected from the vehicle, and died at the scene. Cauley was transported by Atoka EMS to Atoka County Medical Center, treated and released.

Miller listed the cause of the incident as failure to yield at stop sign.

Miller was assisted by Trooper Josh O'Steen and Trooper Mark Benedict, Choctaw Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police, Atoka EMS, Stringtown Fire Department and Kiowa Fire Department.
