The Mississippi Gulf Coast dominated at the state level this season, producing a pair of champions and showing why it’s a high school soccer hotbed. Here’s a chance for fans to make their choice for the Sun Herald Boys Player of the Year for the 2022-23 season.
The fan’s choice winner for Player of the Year will be recognized along with the rest of the All-South Mississippi Team.

Here are the nominees:
Calvin Jackson, Pascagoula: Jackson scored 19 goals for the Panthers in his senior year.
Byron Shepherd, St. Patrick: The senior scored five goals and picked up 11 assists. Shepherd is signed to MGCCC.
Trey Roche, Pass Christian: Roche scored 25 goals and had nine assists in leading the Pirates to the 4A semifinals.
Brant Tarter, Pearl River Central: Tarter scored 19 goals with nine assists as a senior and is a MGCCC signee.
Aiden Boudro, Bay High: Boudro found the back of the net 24 times and picked up 11 assists. He scored in each playoff game in leading the Tigers to a state title.
Dylan Kippes, Long Beach: Kippes led the Bearcats in goals this season and helped lead Long Beach to its third straight state title.
Cameron Badurak, Gulfport: Badurak scored 12 goals and assisted on another 12 for the Admirals.
Andrew Kravette, Biloxi: Defender and Jones College signee named to both the Coast All Star team and Mississippi Association of Coaches All Star team.
Mark Peaden, Ocean Springs: The senior was a MAC all star who scored 14 goals and assisted on 10 more for the Greyhounds.
Mason Ripoll, Picayune: Ripoll scored 18 goals in 13 games and assisted on another seven. Selected to the East vs West All Star game.
