Coast Guard to the rescue: Man in pain taken from cruise ship near Atlantic City, New Jersey

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A man suffering abdominal pain was taken off the cruise ship Mein Schiff about 20 nautical miles east of Atlantic City on Sunday morning, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Officials said Coast Guard personnel, using a helicopter, hoisted the 44-year-old man off the cruise ship and took him to the Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, reports the Asbury Park Press, which is a part of the USA TODAY Network.
"We had to bring the man to the Air Station due to poor weather conditions. Winds and clouds prevented us from landing at the hospital helipad, but we did have medical responders waiting for us back at our unit," Coast Guard Lt. Conor Lee said in a news release. "Overall the case went extremely well and everything was smooth and successful.”
The man's name was not released.
Mein Schiff is owned through a joint venture between Royal Caribbean Cruises and German travel company TUI Cruises.
