Coastal Comic Con in Wilmington: What to know about the actors, cost and parking

The popularity of cosplaying festivals hits Wilmington this Saturday and Sunday with the first Coastal Comic Con, which will feature several actors and games.

Here's what to know.

What's happening

Coastal Comic Con will be held March 2-3 at the Wilmington Convention Center, 10 Convention Center Drive. The event will feature more than 150 artists and vendors.

Coastal Comic Con adheres to a kid/family-oriented event and does not allow adult materials of any kind on display. Please remember all costumes worn by cosplay performers need to be appropriate for the venue.

The featured guests from television and film will be Michael Biehn and Jennifer Blanc-Biehn. Biehn starred as Kyle Reese, the man sent back through time to stop Arnold Schwarzenegger in James Cameron’s "The Terminator."

At the age of 13, Blanc-Biehn was on Broadway in Neil Simon’s “Brighton Beach Memoirs.”

Featured guests voice and anime will be Leah Clark, David Matranga, Sonny Strait and Billy West.

Clark is a is a voice actor and writer most known for her works at Funimation and Crunchyroll. Her voice is most often recognized as Himiko Toga in "My Hero Academia."

Matranga is an American voice actor who works primarily for English dubbed anime for Funimation and Sentai Filmworks. He is best known as the voice of Shoto Todoroki from "My Hero Academia."

Strait has over 20 years of experience in the arts. He is most recognized as the voice of Krillin on the animated TV show "Dragonball Z" and as an illustrator for an independently published comic book series "Elfquest."

West is an American voice actor, musician and former radio personality. His voice roles include Bugs Bunny in the 1996 film "Space Jam" and the title characters of "Doug" and "The Ren & Stimpy Show" just to mention a few.

There will be an opportunity for autographs and photos.

There will also be a new virtual reality experience, comic books, toy vendors and Retro Reaction, a free play game room featuring over 30 retro and modern gaming systems, which includes a custom-built arcade.

Tickets

  • Two days (Saturday and Sunday) are $30

  • One day, $25 on Saturday, $15 on Sunday

  • Ages 6-12 for both days (Saturday and Sunday) are $5

  • Free admission for ages 5 and under with a paying adult

  • Tickets are also available at the door.

Parking

The parking deck entrance is near the corner of Nutt Street and Estell Place, attached to the Wilmington Convention Center. The parking deck is open daily. Credit or debit cards are honored when no booth attendant is on duty.

The city of Wilmington public parking deck daily rates:

  • $3 first hour

  • $5 second hour

  • $7 third hour

  • $9 fourth hour

  • $11 fourth to 12th hours

  • $15 12th to 24th hours maximum - daily

The Wilmington Convention Center does not control the parking rates or maintenance of the garage.
