Coastal Flood Watch in Dare County until Feb. 13

DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — Dare County has issued a coastal flood watch until 4 p.m. on Feb. 13.

Areas along and adjacent to tidal creeks, and areas along the Pamlico Sound could experience up to four feet of flooding in low-lying areas, a release states.

Some roads and low lying property including: parking lots, parks, lawns and homes adjacent to the Pamlico Sound and tidal creeks could experience flooding, and an elevated threat of property damage. Some road closures and flooding of vehicles will be possible.

If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property.
