🌱 COASTER Service Suspended + Free N95 Masks + $1.8M Funding

First, today's weather:

Sunny and pleasant. High: 71 Low: 42. Looks like it's going to be another gorgeous weekend in Oceanside!


Here are the top five stories in Oceanside-Camp Pendleton today:

  1. All coastal rail line service is suspended between Oceanside Transit Center and Santa Fe Depot Jan 22-23, for routine maintenance and rail infrastructure work. There will be no COASTER or Amtrak service. The rail will re-open for all rail service in time for the morning commute on Monday. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)

  2. Oceanside residents will be able to get up to three N95 masks for free starting next week. The N95 masks will be available for pick up at pharmacies and health centers in Oceanside that partnered with the federal government's COVID-19 vaccination campaign. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)

  3. U.S. Rep Mike Levin announced he has secured $1.8 million in federal funding for the Oceanside Special Shoreline Study. Funding for the long-delayed study will advance efforts to restore local beaches that have been negatively affected by the construction of Camp Pendleton Harbor. (Oceanside-Camp Pendleton Patch)

  4. Local residents expressed concerns at the January 12 Oceanside City Council meeting about plans for a new 24-hour Starbucks drive-thru located at the southwest corner of Neptune Way and North Coast Highway. Despite objections that it would negatively impact traffic, the council voted unanimously to approve the project. (Coast News)
