Cobb animal shelter reopens

Aug. 4—Cobb County's animal shelter has resumed normal business, the county said Thursday.

The shelter was closed for more than a week after a case of "strep-zoo," a respiratory bacterial infection, was found among one of the animals.

All animals affected by the outbreak have been treated with antibiotics, and no other animals displayed symptoms of the virus, the county said last week.

Located on Al Bishop Drive off County Services Parkway in central Cobb, the shelter can be contacted at 770-499-4136.
