Cobb County Magistrate Court Worker Tests Positive For COVID-19

COBB COUNTY, GA—A Cobb County magistrate court employee has tested postive for the coronavirus. County officials said they were made aware of the worker's illness Thursday afternoon. The employee works in the accounting division of the magistrate court clerk's office, county officials said.

"This staff member has not worked in person at the courthouse since Tuesday; she was regularly scheduled to be off yesterday and today (Thursday)," county officials said on their official Facebook page.

Based on information provided, county officials believe the worker was exposed outside of the courthouse.

"When she learned of her potential exposure and began to exhibit mild symptoms herself, she went to get a rapid test," county officials said.

Due to the worker testing positive for COVID-19, county officials said the accounting division will remain closed for in-person business effective immediately through the weekend for cleaning.

"Employees she worked closely with will be tested and remain home," county officials said. "This employee does not fall in the 'higher risk' category, but please keep her in your thoughts and prayers nonetheless. Thank you."
