Cobblestone Hotel & Suites, with a Wissota Chophouse, just opened its first De Pere location ∣ Streetwise
DE PERE − Cobblestone Hotel & Suites held a grand opening Thursday for its first De Pere location at 499 Main Ave.
The company offers upper-midscale hotel accommodations for business or leisure. Anna Jakubek, vice president of development for the company, said it currently has 165 properties open around the country and another 13 in construction.
The hotel in De Pere has 60 guest rooms, an indoor pool, a business center and an exercise facility. It also has a Wissota Chophouse restaurant, a first in the area. The company says on its website that the restaurant offers USDA-certified Angus beef as well as seafood and creative sides.
"The closest location to this one (De Pere) is in Pulaski and Little Chute; neither of those have the chophouse," Jakubek said.

She said the company specializes in locating in small-town communities or on the outskirts of big cities. "De Pere was special to us because they (the city) have so much going on," she said. "So it's cool to be here on the main street, close to the college."
The restaurant and hotel employ almost 30 people.
Jakubek said the project was developed through a partnership with Cobblestone Hotels, General Capital Management, the city of De Pere and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.
De Pere Hotel Group purchased the hotel lot from General Capital Management for $400,000 in August 2021. Construction started in October 2021 and finished in November. The total cost of the project was $8.3 million.
Cobblestone Hotel & Suites has locations in 29 states. In Wisconsin, there are 34 hotels with three more coming in the near future. Its headquarters is located in Neenah.
