Cobras' win streak ends at 24
Apr. 13—MARTINSVILLE, Virginia — The streak is over.
After winning 24 baseball games in a row, Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute was grounded on Wednesday. The Cobras lost to Patrick & Henry 7-2.
The Patriots (19-13) led 4-0 before Caldwell (28-3) could plate a run. It was 7-1 after six innings. Cody Smart worked 5 1/3 innings on the mound to absorb the loss. He yielded five hits and four earned runs, while striking out four and walking four.
Garrison Burress batted 2 for 4 with a double. Bo Davidson also doubled.
Steven Smith went 2 for 3. Breon Ishmael and Isaiah Kirby each had RBIs.
The Cobras return to Walker Stadium for a Saturday double-header against Rockingham. First pitch is 1 p.m.
