When season three of Stranger Things drops on Netflix this summer, anyone born in the '70s or earlier will recognize something: New Coke. The updated Coca-Cola, which launched in 1985 but never quite caught on, will make a cameo on the show's third season, set in 1985. A limited number of fans, whether of the show or of the drink brand, can sip the nostalgic drink as they watch Eleven, Hopper, and the rest of the crew this July.

For everyone who doesn't recall, here's a quick recap: Coke created a sweeter version of their classic soda in the mid-80s. A few months later, after customers made their opinions of the new formula known with thousands of calls and letters, the actual classic recipe came back. In 2002, Coke II (as it had been renamed) was phased out completely, the New York Times reports.

But this summer, a limited quantity of "New Coke" will be back alongside Stranger Things-branded classic Coke and Coke Zero bottles and cans. So as not to repeat their previous mistakes-Coke told CNN the comeback is a way to "not take ourselves too seriously"-fans will get to try New Coke as a "gift with purchase" with any Stranger Things bottle purchases.

The numbered bottles-175,000 in all-will be sold starting Thursday, May 23 at 5 p.m. ET on Coca-Cola's 1985 website. New Coke cans also will be available on select days as a gift with purchase for visitors heading to the World of Coca-Cola in Atlanta or the Coca-Cola Store Las Vegas during the week of June 3.

As for Stranger Things, the third season drops on Netflix July 4. Leading up to that, expect more collabs with brands like H&M, Baskin-Robbins, and Levi's.
