Once you get a taste of "Cocaine Bear," you need more, apparently. Two months after the fictional movie hit theaters, the obsession continues with a new documentary streaming on Peacock.

“Cocaine Bear: The True Story” premiered on Peacock on April 14. The NBCUniversal-owned streaming service dropped the trailer just one day before.

Through several interviews and archival footage, it reveals the truth behind the bizarre high-flying South American drug smuggling operation in 1985 that led to Andrew Thornton falling to his death from the sky in South Knoxville with more than 70 pounds of cocaine strapped to his body (while wearing Gucci loafers) and a coked-up bear in the Georgia forest.

“Holy crap, you would never believe this happened,” one of the interviewees says in the documentary trailer. “(The story) has corruption, murder … gun running – you name it,” others add.

The hourlong documentary includes interviews with those closest to the case including the former Knox County sheriff who was one of the first people on the scene after Thornton’s body was found, and a special agent whose team discovered the cocaine-overdosed bear in Georgia.

The documentary is a companion piece to the film “Cocaine Bear,” which also started streaming on Peacock. The dark comedy thriller was inspired by the true Thornton-overdosed bear events and has grossed nearly $84 million worldwide since its February release, according to Box Office Mojo.
