Bellinger uses schoolyard humor to praise Webb after NLDS originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

In an instant, Cody Bellinger went from hapless to hero. A single by the struggling former NL MVP in the top of the ninth inning Thursday night gave the Los Angeles Dodgers a 2-1 lead in Game 5 of the NLDS, and a controversial check-swing call on Wilmer Flores sent the Giants into the offseason.

After 107 wins, the season ended with a whimper.

There was one silver lining for the Giants in their heartbreaking NLDS loss to the Dodgers, and that was that 24-year-old Logan Webb looked like he has the skill set to go toe-to-toe with the Dodgers aces for the foreseeable future.

After Game 5 concluded, Bellinger gave props to Webb with a compliment that could have been NSFW, but the Dodgers outfielder kept things PG.

Webb was brilliant in two NLDS starts vs. the Dodgers. After tossing 7 2/3 shutout innings in a Game 1 win, Webb once again silenced LA's vaunted lineup Thursday, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out seven in seven innings of work.

Unfortunately for the Giants, their offense went dormant during the five-game series against the Dodgers. LA outscored the Giants 18-9 in the NLDS and San Francisco was just 3-for-25 with runners in scoring position.

Against a team as talented as the Dodgers, that's just not good enough.

But Webb proved he has ace material and knows the Dodgers haven't seen the last of him and the Giants.

"This won't be the last time we play them in the playoffs," Webb said.
