Bull riding fans will be in Jackson en masse this weekend as the Cody Nance Invitational returns to Oman Arena on Friday and Saturday.

A total of 25 cowboys will compete by showing off their bull riding skills with $10,000 prize money and a trophy buckle up for grabs each night.

There will also be freestyle bullfighting, mutton busting and entertainer Dave Showtime Meyer providing a comedy act throughout the night.

Tickets range between $25 and $45 and are available online at Eventbrite.com. Ages 3 and younger get in free.

Saturday

731 Cars and Coffee: The car show will have its first showing of 2022 at Kohl’s (1131 Vann Drive in Jackson) from 8-11 a.m.

Taste of Italy: A spaghetti dinner with all the trimmings and musical entertainment by Andy Avery will be on hand for this fundraising event for the Elks National Foundation and Tennessee Elks Benevolent Trust. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m., and the show is at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available in the Social Club of the Elks Lodge at 28 Executive Drive in Jackson.

Black Tie & Boxing: A new tradition in Jackson returns this weekend after a year hiatus as Black Tie and Boxing is set to happen on Saturday at the Carl Perkins Civic Center.

Black Tie and Boxing is an annual fundraiser set up with all funds going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), which is funding research looking for a cure for the disease, that’s typically diagnosed during a child’s early toddler years and warrants a constant vigilance over the child’s blood sugar levels.

The event, which is an event in which guests dress in formal attire to watch a full card of mixed martial arts bouts, has grown every year to the point the organizers have a goal of $200,000 raised this year.

Black Tie and Boxing After Party: The Parkstone Grille (224 Parkstone Place in Jackson) will be hosting the Official Black Tie and Boxing After Party. They will have live music by Tipsy Gypsy from 8-11 and then DJ B-EZ will take over immediately following the black tie event. All fighters, event hosts and event attendees are welcome with free admission. Finger foods will be provided, and bartenders will be ready to serve all night.
