Cody released his first single "iYiYi" back in 2010 with Flo Rida right after being signed to Atlantic Records. His first album, Paradise, was released in 2012 . He later released another album, Surfers Paradise, in 2013. At the same time, Cody appeared on season 18 of Dancing with the Stars and came in 9th place with professional partner, Witney Carson.

He ended up leaving Atlantic Records and released his first album, Free, in 2015 under his own label, Coast House. He also ended up creating his own band, Cody Simpson and the Tide, and they released their first EP together in 2017.
While also working on his music career, Cody also started to act in a number of TV shows including Instant Mom and Cougar Town. He also starred in the Broadway musical Anastasia as Dimitry from November 2018 until the show closed on March 29, 2019.
Before he became a musician, Cody was a successful swimmer and he recently joined University of Southern California's Trojan Swim Elite team.
