Coffee Mate moves beyond creamer for the first time

As a person who is passionate about coffee creamer, I feel it is my duty to bring the public some potentially morning routine-changing news about Coffee Mate.

On Oct. 23, Coffee Mate announced on Instagram that it’s introducing Coffee Mate Iced Coffee — a first for the brand. Offering the product in two flavors — French Vanilla and Caramel — the Nestlé-owned brand aims to fill your mug entirely and save you a step in the morning.

“Iced coffee is always in season thanks to our first-ever, ready-to-drink iced coffee made with smooth coffee balanced with the rich taste of Coffee mate creamer,” reads the company’s Instagram post. “Simply pour over ice and enjoy!”

Coffee Mate Iced Coffee comes in 50-ounce bottles, which are available now in the refrigerated section at grocery stores or at select retailers nationwide, for $4.99. Coffee Mate says each bottle contains about five servings, which amounts to about $1 per cup.

“Enjoying cold coffee year-round has become a ‘personality trait’ for many coffee drinkers who are choosing iced over everything,” said Leonardo Aizpuru, Nestlé’s vice president of brand marketing for the beverage division and business unit, in a statement.

“This growing love for iced coffee — especially among Gen Z — presented an ideal opportunity for Coffee mate to move beyond creamers for the first time in its 60+ years since inception,” Aizpuru added.

So far, reaction to the news on social media can be characterized as “excited but hungry for more,” as fans in the comments section are chiming in with their suggestions.

“Yayyyyyy, but Do you have Decaf for those of us that cannot Drink Caffeine ???” commented one person on Instagram.

“Sugar free please or almond milk ones please,” wrote another.

“Yes!!!! Now you need a pumpkin spice flavor and a peppermint mocha and this would be pure perfection,” commented someone else.

Coffee Mate has recently been pouring out some buzzworthy beverages. In August, the brand released a limited-edition Peanut Butter & Jelly Duo creamer flavor, only sending bottles to winners of a sweepstakes. And on Oct. 3, aka “Mean Girls” Day, the creamer brand released a pink creamer in honor of the movie. So fetch.
