Coffee shop, new-to-Kentucky hotel coming to Newtown Pike development

If you’ve been driving out Newtown Pike and wondered restaurant was under construction, the answer is Starbucks.

The new coffee shop is going in at 1433 Newtown Center Way. It’s going to be part of a new development called Newtown Springs.

The Starbucks is expected to open later this year and will have a double lane drive-thru.

The development also will have a new hotel and eventually other retail and restaurants, which come as Newtown Pike is expected to be widened by the state to six lanes from New Circle Road to I-75, with construction beginning in 2024, according to a Lexington city spokesperson.

“RD Property Group, the developer of Newtown Springs, enlisted New Circle Investments to develop one of the nation’s first Everhome Suites by Choice Hotels,” said Jamie Wittman of RD Property Group in Lexington. “The midscale extended stay hotel is aimed at serving Lexington’s longer staying guests including professionals in the construction and medical industries, transitioning homeowners and visitors of the Kentucky Horse Park, downtown, and Coldstream Research Campus.”

A new Everhome Suites by Choice Hotels is under construction at the intersection of Newtown Springs Drive and Newtown Pass, just off Newtown Pike. The hotel is part of a a new development called Newtown Springs which includes a new Starbucks location.

Additional amenities will be joining the Newtown Springs development soon, Wittman said.

Starbucks new location also coming to Fountains of Palomar

The Seattle-based coffee chain, which already has about two dozen locations in Lexington, also is expanding on the south side of town.

A new Starbucks location is coming to 3880 Fountainblue Lane in the Fountains of Palomar development off Harrodsburg Road.

That’s near where the second location of Bella Cafe & Grill will be opening, as well as a new Chipotle and, in late 2024, Lexington’s first Publix grocery store.
