Alex Frampton-Winters and Megan Greene have worked together to bring a new coffee shop near the Ghent community of New Bern.

The Fix officially opened on Nov. 5 and is located at 2118 Trent Blvd.

Frampton-Winters is a New Bern native and is a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. Upon military separation due to medical injuries, he returned to his hometown.

Frampton-Winters is also the owner of Bellator Roasting Company.

He started roasting coffee as a teenager aiding his late stepfather, who owned New Bern Roasting Company.

"I actually started roasting about 16 years ago," Frampton-Winters said. "My stepfather passed away and I roasted for awhile then decided to join the Army. I got all beat up, got out and came back to roasting. It's a lot easier on my body."

Greene attended Johnson and Wales University in Charlotte and earned her degree from Auguste Escoffier School Of Culinary Arts. She started her pastry business, The Redheaded Sicilian, in September 2020.

She bakes her pastries fresh each day on site and she uses her own recipes that she has mastered over the years to create her baked delicacies.

"Alex and I both shared the passion for what we do," said Greene. "The quality of our products, just kind of everything matched on the same exact levels."

"We decided to work together and just create something amazing of our own," Greene said. "We started working on the business location in April and spent several months trying to figure out exactly what we wanted to do with it, how we wanted it to run." Greene said.

Greene said she has been baking since 1997 mainly in the Arlington and Washington, D.C. area for different professional pastry shops and even had the privilege of preparing her pastries for The White House.

The Fix serves a variety of different flavors of coffee and a wide selection of pastries, quiches and breads with plans to add more items to their menu in the future.
