Coffee shop, pizza place & more. Here’s what’s coming to this new plaza in Houston County

A new coffee shop is coming to a shopping plaza under construction along Ga. 96 in the Bonaire community of Houston County, along with a pizza place and other businesses.

Franchisees Tim and Andrea Horne of Kathleen expect to open Just Love Coffee Cafe in early August in the new shopping plaza at 719 Ga. 96.

Known for its artisan, fair trade and organic coffees, craft beverages and unique waffle-based all-day menu, Tennessee-based Just Love Coffee Cafe is also new to Middle Georgia.

“The brand is a specialty blend coffee brand,” Tim Horne said. “It’s a small cafe as well serving some unique menu items … Kinda excited to bring the new menu offerings.”

The coffee shop is expected to serve drip coffee, cold brews, teas, “classic caffe,” traditional espresso signature lattes, along with a barista box of coffee that serves 10 to 12 people, a gallon of tea and seasonal drinks.

The menu is built around what can be made with a waffle iron, including waffle omelets, waffle sandwiches, waffle wraps and, of course, traditional waffles, according to the company’s website.

For example, a “womelet” is eggs, sausage, cheddar cheese, onions, peppers, tomatoes sandwiched between a waffle, according to the menu. A classic club sandwich is made with sourdough waffles and includes roast beef, turkey, bacon, pepper jack cheese, provolone, lettuce and tomato.

Among the traditional waffle selections is the berry berry bo berry waffle — a waffle with blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, whipped cream, powdered sugar and maple syrup.

The menu also includes salads such as a spinach strawberry salad made of spinach, feta cheese, strawberries, dried cranberries, almonds and grape tomatoes with a choice of salad dressing.

Papa Johns and more

In addition to the coffee shop, others businesses coming to the new plaza include a Papa Johns, a T-Mobile and a nail salon, said Alkesh “Alex” Patel, one of the owners of the shopping plaza.

Patel and his friends formed San Hwy 96 LLC and purchased the 3.38 acres on which the new plaza sits for $1.15 million, according to Houston County property tax records.

The plaza is expected to be completed by the end of May, with tenants responsible for individual build outs, said contractor Matthew McMillian, owner of McWright Construction, which built the plaza.

Other spaces in the shopping plaza are available for lease.

The plaza is in front of the The Patrician at Bonaire apartment complex and across the street from McAlister’s Deli.
