Colby teen dies from injuries suffered Thursday in Marathon County crash

WIEN − An 18-year-old Colby man died Sunday from injuries he suffered in a one-vehicle crash Thursday evening, according to the Marathon County Sheriff's Office.

At 7:04 p.m. Thursday, a caller reported a crash near the intersection of Marathon County N and Aspen Drive in the town of Wien, about 15 miles east of Colby, according to the Sheriff's Office. Samuel Cruz Castro, the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, was taken to Aspirus Wausau Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

On Sunday, the Marathon County Medical Examiner's Office notified the Sheriff's Office that Castro had died from his injuries.

The Marathon County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the crash.
