Cold front could bring damaging winds to Chicago on Sunday, forecasters warn

Chicago Tribune staff, Chicago Tribune

A cold front will usher in strong, possibly damaging, winds late Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

The weather service warns of gusts that could develop overnight and reach 55 miles per hour on Sunday.

The strong winds will come after a breezy Saturday, with some storms likely, the weather service said. The showers are predicted this afternoon and tonight, with winds of around 35 miles per hours.

A cold front then will develop overnight, bringing in the wind, which is expected to ease by Sunday evening.

The cool and windy weather comes just days after the area broke records for six straight days of November weather reaching into the 70s.
