Cold. Still. Period.

Jan. 15—It's like the Clinton area is frozen in time. Frozen being the operative word.

Dangerous cold continues to blanket eastern Iowa and western Illinois, as it has since the middle of last week. A wind chill warning continues to be in effect through noon Tuesday.

Tonight wind chill values will be in the 30-45 degrees below zero range, according to the National Weather Service. From there, wind chills of 20 below or colder are likely into the weekend.

Some relief is possible on Sunday, when the high temperature is forecast to reach 21.

Over the weekend, wind gusts recorded at the Clinton airport were among the top five in the region covered by the Quad-Cities office of the National Weather Service, reaching 41 mph on Saturday. Cedar Rapids was the highest at 51 mph. Sterling-Rock Falls, Illinois airport saw 38 mph.

The largest snowfall in region from the Jan. 12-13 storm was 17.4 inches two miles northwest of Geneseo, Illinois. Clinton received up to 11.9 inches. DeWitt recorded 8.8 inches

According to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration online records, the 10 inches of snow that fell Jan. 12 in Clinton is a record for that date.
