Coldwater Gymnastics to host 12th Annual "Stick It for a Cure" benefit invitational
COLDWATER, MI – The Coldwater High School (CHS) Gymnastics Team is continuing their great tradition of “sticking it” to cancer.
On Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, the Coldwater High School Gymnastics team is hosting the 12th annual “Stick It for a Cure” benefit invitational to raise awareness and funding to support cancer patients and survivors in Branch County. All proceeds from the event will benefit ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital’s (PCRH) Cancer Center. The competition will welcome teams from all over Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.
In February of 2020, CHS Gymnastics raised over $20,000! As of last year’s event, CHS Gymnastics and our community have raised a total of just over $100,000.
Projects supported through these generous dollars include renovations to the nurse’s station, comfortable lounge chairs for patients as they receive treatment, a sound system to the cancer center, funding mammograms for patients who could not afford it, and purchasing several iPads that are available for patients to use during treatment.
This year, the committee’s goal is to purchase items from the Cancer Center’s wish list.
“The commitment of Coach Nichols and her team each year is astounding to us,” stated Chris Kelly, Director of PCRH Cancer Center. “They have provided both items we need and also wanted items that enhance the experience of our patients during some of the most difficult days of their lives. We are very grateful.”
The opening ceremonies begin on Feb. 12 at 9 AM and the meet will begin at 9:30 a.m. There will be several baskets available during a silent auction and a raffle that will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
