As famously crooned by country singer Cody Johnson, “If you got a chance, take it, take it while you got a chance. If you got a dream, chase it, ‘cause a dream won’t chase you back.” These were the parting words shared by Coldwater High School principal Bill Milnes to the graduating class of 2022 at Sunday’s 155th annual commencement exercises.

A total of 226 students crossed the stage at Cardinal Field Sunday to receive their diplomas from school board President Dr. Edward Lake, along with a smattering of faculty members.

Those in attendance heard from 2022 class council representative Alexis Galliers who welcomed those in attendance; from class treasurer Kaleb Barker who gave the tribute to the faculty and advisors; from class secretary McKenna Stewart who gave the tribute to the parents; from class vice president Taylor Musselman who gave the tribute to the community; and from class president Bridgette Meyers who gave the closing remarks.

Additional student speakers also included the three 2022 Valedictorians Carolyn Potter, Anna DeMeester and Garrett Thorne in addition to Salutatorian Zach Grines.

Coldwater Athletic Director Todd Farmer also awarded the 2022 John Vance Award of Character and Achievement to Anna DeMeester.

Senior Scholars for the class of 2022 included Avery Boyce, Gavin Budd, Anna DeMeester, Zachary Diotte, Ashley Drzewicki, Sarah Forrister, Jayla Foster, Zackary Grines, Myron Lafty, Jillian McKinley, Allison Miller, Taylor Musselman, Fatima Naji, Griffen Persails, Carloyn Potter, Taylor Robison, Dawson Sharpley, Garrett Thorne, Stiffany Villanueva and Allie Welch.
