COLDWATER — The Coldwater Golf Course played host to the first local boys golf invitational of the Spring on Thursday as 24 teams made the trip to compete in the Cardinal Invitational.
In what can modestly described as “windy” conditions, the host Cardinals finished in seventh place out of 24 teams. Coldwater finished the day with a score of 358 for their top 10 finish while the visiting Quincy Orioles also finished out a solid day, shooting a combined score of 406, good enough for twenty-second place.
The team from Portage Central won the event with a team score of 337, followed closely by Gull Lake who finished with runner-up honors after carding a 338, just one strike back.
Pacing the Cardinals and their seventh place finish was the duo of Kyle Sheppard and Jett Galloway, with both golfers carding rounds of 85.
Talon Eberts had a solid day as the number three golfer for the Cardinals, finishing with a score of 86, just one shot behind his two teammates. Also adding to the Coldwater effort was Brady Arver with a 102 and Rayce Johnson with a 105 to round out the Coldwater scoring.
