Coldwater Soccer falls to #9 DeWitt
COLDWATER, MI. — A big second half for the ninth ranked DeWitt Panthers proved to be the difference Saturday afternoon as the Coldwater Cardinal soccer team dropped their home non-conference battle with DeWitt by the score of 3-0.
The game was tied at 0-0 after a first half defensive stalemate, with neither team able to get any of their shots to find the back of the net.
DeWitt broke the scoreless first half tie with a long goal at the 31:01 mark, followed by a long direct kick that hit the cross bar and just inched over the goal line at the 18:11 mark. DeWitt added their final insurance goal at the 14:52 mark on a corner kick, finding the final score of 3-0.
Franky Ramos continues to play solid in goal, recording six saves in the tough loss.
With the loss Coldwater falls to 8-5-3 overall on the season.
The Cardinals will next see the field on Tuesday in a huge Interstate 8 conference matchup as they will host the undefeated and eighth ranked Parma Western Panthers.
Coldwater sits at 5-0-1 in the Interstate 8 conference while Parma Western comes in at 5-0. The winner of Tuesday’s match up will take home the Interstate 8 conference championship.
Game time for the epic battle will take place just after the JV game, with game time at roughly 6:30 p.m.
In JV weekend action the Cardinals fell to DeWitt by the score of 3-1.
Coldwater’s lone goal came on a direct kick from Austin Accardi.
The JV Cardinals will play Edwardsburg on Monday before hosting Parma Western on Tuesday.
