COLDWATER, MI. — The Coldwater Cardinal Swim and Dive team continued the early part of their conference schedule Thursday night, hosting Battle Creek Central at the Dr. Robert W. Browne Aquatic Center. Coldwater secured their first win of the new season on the night, besting the Bearcats by the score of 102-70.

Coldwater’s effort was paced by six wins in 12 of the competed events, with four individual victories and two relay wins.

Taylor Eberts had a pretty big day in the pool to pace the Cardinal effort, recording a first and second place finish individually to go along with two relay wins. Eberts finished in first place in the 200 yard Freestyle swim to go along with a second place finish in the 100 yard Freestyle. In relay news Eberts joined the team of Drake Thornton, Cooper Otto and Lucas Wischmeyer to win the 200 yard Freestyle Relay while In his other relay win Eberts joined the trio of Cooper Otto, Ian Stough and Sam Larr to win the 400 Freestyle relay.

Drake Thornton had a big night in the pool for Coldwater, recording an individual first and second place finish in addition to a relay win. Thornton finished in first place in the 50 yard Freestyle swim and second place in the 100 yard Breaststroke. As for the relay win Thornton was joined by Taylor Eberts, Cooper Otto and Lucas Wischmeyer in winning the 200 yard Freestyle Relay.

Also securing wins for Coldwater was Cooper Otto with a win in the 200 Individual Medley and Sam Pernia with a victory in the 1-meter Dive.

Rounding out the Coldwater effort was Lucas Wischmeyer, second place in the 50 Freestyle and second place in the 100 Butterfly; Ian Stough, third place in the 200 Individual Medley and third place in the 500 Freestyle; Sam Larr with a fourth place finish in the 100 Freestyle and third place in the 100 Backstroke; Brady Massey with a fifth place finish in the 100 Breaststroke; Kyler Houvener, fourth place in the 200 Freestyle and fourth place in the 500 Freestyle; Charlie Gruner, third place in the 100 Breaststroke; Kaz Lindblom, fourth place in the 50 Freestyle and second place in the 200 Freestyle; Mason Grabowski, third place in the 200 Freestyle and fifth place in the 100 Freestyle; Brennen King, third place in the 100 Butterfly and fourth place in the 100 Backstroke; and Luke Marteen, fifth place in the 100 Backstroke.

Coldwater will be back in action on Tuesday when they continue non-conference play with a trip to Charlotte.
