HASTINGS, MI. — The Coldwater Cardinal tennis team remains unbeaten in the Interstate 8 conference after a thoroughly dominant sweep of the Hastings Saxons Thursday night, winning by the score of 8-0.Seven of the eight flights were decided in straight sets for the Cardinal victory, with the lone three set win coming in another exciting battle at number one doubles.The duo of Manny Ortiz and Jon Niedzwiecki took home that exciting win at number one doubles, winning their flight in three sets by scores of 6-3, 4-6 and 10-8.Rounding out the Coldwater effort in the doubles flights was the number two doubles team of Claudel Wischmeyer and Evan Poradzisz who won in straight sets by scores of 6-0 and 6-0; the number three doubles team of Parkyr Jones and Chris Clark who won by scores of 6-0 and 6-0; and the number four doubles team of Carson Snyder and Cayden Wood who won by scores of 6-0 and 6-0.The Cardinals were as equally dominant in the singles flights, winning each one in straight sets.Winning at number one singles was Dawson Brown who won by scores of 6-0 and 6-0; Eric Rucker won at number two singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-3; Grady Brockway won at number three singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-3; and Sam Larr won at number four singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-0.With the victory Coldwater improved their overall record to 5-2 on the season and 2-0 in the Interstate 8 conference. Coldwater will next see action Monday when they host perennial conference power Lumen Christi at the Heritage Park Tennis Courts.
