Coldwater varsity bowling sweeps Parma Western on Senior Night
COLDWATER, MI. — The Coldwater Cardinal bowling program welcomed Interstate 8 foe Parma Western to town Tuesday night as the teams invaded Midway Lanes for Senior Night.
Coldwater honored four seniors on the evening in Violet Waltke, Logan Cleckner, Austin Johnson and Chase Rubley.
In action on the lanes the Cardinals earned the hard fought sweep, defeating Parma Western in both the boys and girls match ups.
In the varsity girls battle the Lady Cardinals were finally back to full strength and firing on all cylinders, going on to defeat Parma Western 29-1.
Coldwater took both regular games 758-579 and 680-558 for a total win of 1438-1137. Coldwater also took both baker games, winning game one 131-119 and game two 193-116, while also taking the overall total 324-235.
Leading the Coldwater effort was Ema Shidler with a 183 and Lily Cook with a 179.
In the varsity boys contest the Cardinals avenged an early season loss to Western by pulling out a razor thin 16-14 victory.
Coldwater and Parma split the regular games, with Western taking game one 960-776 while Coldwater took game two 889-847. It was Western taking the extra points by winning the overall total 1807-1665.
Coldwater was able to take the victory thanks in part to a sweep of the baker games, winning game one 186-158 followed by a win in game two 154-124 for a total of 340-282.
Leading the way for Coldwater was seniors Logan Cleckner and Austin Johnson, both throwing a high game of 191.
In the JV contest the squads split the meets, with the JV girls winning 24-6 while the boys lost 16.5-13.5.
