Coldwater XC runs at Otsego Bulldog Invite

OTSEGO, MI. — The Coldwater Cardinal XC team traveled to Otsego on Saturday to compete in one of the largest in season cross country invitationals of the year, joining 65 other teams across numerous divisions in competing at the Otsego Bulldog Invite.

Coldwater competed in the Division Two portion of the event along with 26 additional teams.

In the women’s portion of the invitational it was Coldwater finishing in twenty-fifth place overall with a score of 665 points. Otsego took home the championship with a score of 69 points, followed by Grand Rapids Christian in second place with 131 points.

Leading the Coldwater effort was junior Lainey Yearling who crossed the line in fifty-second place overall in a solid time of 20 minutes, 47.28 seconds.

Rounding out the scoring for Coldwater was Abigail Robison in one hundred and thirty-second place in a time of 23 minutes, 8.24 seconds; Eysha Chavez in one hundred and sixty-second place in a time of 24 minutes, 38.08 seconds; Heidi Katz in one hundred and seventy-fourth place in a time of 27 minutes, 1.33 seconds; and Macy Stout in one hundred and seventy-fifth place in a time of 27 minutes, 41.16 seconds.

Also running well for Coldwater was Taylor West in one hundred and seventy-seventh place in a time of 28 minuets, 13.48 seconds and Michaylee Croy in one hundred and seventy-eighth place in a time of 33 minutes, 22.69 seconds.

Drew Muller of East Grand Rapids won the individual championship with a time of 17 minutes, 52.48 seconds followed by Natalie VanOtterren of Grand Rapids Christian who finished in second place in a time of 18 minutes, 9.37 seconds.

In the men’s portion of the invitational it was Coldwater finishing in twenty-seventh place with a score of 758 points. East Grand Rapids took home the team trophy with a score of 94 points, followed by Chelsea in second place with 103 points.

Coldwater’s effort was led by senior Haroon Omar who finished in seventy-fifth place overall with a time of 17 minutes, 30.20 seconds.

Also scoring for the Cardinals was James DeWitt in one hundred and forty-first place in a time of 18 minutes, 45.93 seconds; Ethan Woodcox in one hundred and seventy-seventh place in a time of 19 minutes, 44.70 seconds; Ethan Parker in one hundred and eighty-sixth place in a time of 20 minutes, 15.52 seconds; and Aiden Parker in one hundred and ninetieth place in a time of 20 minutes, 34.64 seconds.

Rounding out the Coldwater effort was Skiler Horn in two hundred and fourth place in a time of 24 minutes, 55.14 seconds; Kaleb Miller in two hundred and sixth place in a time of 26 minutes, 1.85 seconds; and Kazzier Lindblom in two hundred and seventh place in a time of 26 minutes, 16.62 seconds.

The individual championship went to Chelsea’s Connell Alford, a junior, who completed the 3.1 mile course in a truly spectacular time of 14 minutes, 53.20 seconds. Taking second place was Michael Hegarty of Dearborn Divine Child who finished with the silver medal in a time of 15 minutes, 28.18 seconds.

Coldwater will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Ella Sharp Park in Jackson for the second Interstate 8 Jamboree of the season.
