Colesville man charged with rape of a minor

A 43-year-old Colesville man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly engaging in sexual contact with a person under the age of 17.

Daniel R. Stevens was charged with one count of third-degree rape, a felony, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor, according to the Broome County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division.

Stevens was processed for arrest and released to the Broome County CAP Court for arraignment, according to Broome County Sgt. John Harder.

After his arraignment, Stevens was released from custody, according to law enforcement officials.
