Background: Earlier on Saturday, the Russian Ministry of Defence has claimed that Russian soldiers have been poisoned in Zaporizhzhia Oblast of Ukraine with an artificially derived poison. Russia has also decided to conduct an additional investigation into whether the Russian-appointed "head" of Kherson Oblast, Vladimir Saldo, has been poisoned with "poisonous chemical weapons".

On 5 August, Vladimir Saldo has been hospitalised in Russian-occupied Crimea. Reports indicate that Saldo is to be transported on a special chartered aircraft from Crimea to a clinic in Moscow due to the deterioration of his health. According to Russian media, doctors suspect that he might have been poisoned. Alternatively, he might have suffered a stroke.
