SHERMAN TWP. - New faces are set to join the administration at Glen Oaks Community College next year.

The college's board of trustees has approved the presidential search profile, as it seeks the college's new leader. The profile is part of the process to find the college's next president to replace David Devier, who is retiring in June.

College Trustee Joseph Haas, said the search committee met earlier in the month to finalize and format the information in the document. Jill Board, from the Association of Community College Trustees, the firm contracted to conduct the search, facilitated the meetings.

"Overall, I'm happy with the committee's input and involvement," Haas said. "There will be a lot happening over the next couple of months. The hope is to review resumes and select eight or nine candidates to meet with the committee in March, and from there select three or four finalists to come to campus and interview with the Board of Trustees in April." The Presidential Search Profile can be found on the college's Presidential Search page by visiting tinyurl.com/GOCCpresident.

The college also announced Denise DeVries of Portage is joining the college as the new executive director of communications and marketing. DeVries was previously the senior manager of marketing and communications for Special-Lite Inc., a custom commercial door manufacturer in Decatur.

She was also previously the North American marketing manager for Armstrong International in Three Rivers.

"I'm excited to join the incredible team at Glen Oaks Community College,” DeVries said. “I look forward to enhancing the college's presence, connecting with our students, faculty, and the broader community, and having a positive impact on the college's future."

DeVries replaces Valorie Juergens, who is retiring in early January after more than 11 years with the college.
