College baseball: Cloquet's Pokornowski headlines UMD's All-NSIC selections

May 11—DULUTH — Minnesota Duluth outfielder Tim Pokornowski was one of four Minnesota Duluth selections named to the NSIC Baseball All-Conference Second Team, announced Tuesday, May 10.

Pokornowski, a senior from Cloquet, leads the Bulldogs in batting average (.349) and runs (40) while being second in stolen bases (11), home runs (six) and RBIs (35). He has been on a tear as of late, batting 10-for-22 (.454) as UMD went 4-1 on the week, with a team-high eight runs and eight RBIs.

Pokornowski was joined on the Second Team by UMD junior relief pitcher Alex Wattermann Relief (Prior Lake, Minnesota), junior catcher Trevor Gustafson (Webster, Wisconsin) and senior first baseman Brodie Paulson (Woodbury, Minnesota).

The sixth-seeded Bulldogs (22-23) open play in the double-elimination NSIC tournament against third-seeded Minnesota State-Mankato (35-7) at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at First National Bank Field in Brandon, South Dakota.
