COLLEGE BASEBALL: Wranglers advance to regional title game

May 16—BIG SPRING — The Odessa College baseball team earned its spot to the NJCAA Region 5 Regional Championship game thanks to its 5-2 victory over Cisco College Saturday at Big Spring Refinery Ballpark.

Odessa College (23-24 overall) led from start to finish but got a boost thanks to a four-run eighth inning to pull away from Cisco College. It is the second straight victory for the Wranglers after shutting out Weatherford College 8-0 Friday.

Lenin Ashby led Odessa College with three hits and a run scored and Sean Stephens hit a leadoff home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to propel the Wranglers.

Cisco College and Weatherford College play in an elimination game at 10 a.m. Sunday with the winner playing Odessa College at 2 p.m. in the title game.
