College Basketball | Christian Parker, Braedon Poole lead Mount Union over La Roche
Christian Parker tied his career high with 26 points and senior Braedon Poole recorded a double-double as the Mount Union men's basketball team defeated La Roche (Pa.) 81-63 in Timken Gymnasium Monday night.
The Purple Raiders (14-2), who moved up to No. 11 in this week's d3hoops.com poll released earlier Monday, also got 18 points and an impressive dunk by Darrell Newsom in the win. Poole finished with 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting and added 10 rebounds, and Ethan Stanislawski had nine assists.

Mount Union led 41-30 at halftime and 60-48 with 8:39 remaining in the second half. The Purple Raiders then outscored La Roche (8-8) 12-6 over the next 3½ minutes to build a 72-54 lead.
Joe Piplio led La Roche with 12 points and six rebounds.
Earlier Monday, Parker, a 6-6 sophomore from Canton, was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week. He averaged 16 points and eight rebounds in the Purple Raiders' wins over Muskingum and then-No. 21 Heidelberg.
Also on Monday, Mount Union's Isi Palamone was named the OAC women's basketball Player of the Week. Palamone, a 5-foot-10 senior from Murrysville, Pa., averaged 21 points and 12 rebounds and shot 60.7% from the field (17-for-28) in the Purple Raiders' wins over Muskingum and Heidelberg.
The awards were the first each for both Parker and Palamone.
Both Mount Union teams return to action Wednesday against John Carroll. The men's game will begin at 7 p.m. in Timken Gymnasium, while the women's game will start at 7 p.m. in University Heights.
