College basketball roundup: Ridgewater Warriors fall to division-leading St. Cloud T&CC Cyclones

Feb. 1—ST. CLOUD — St. Cloud Technical and Community College maintained its lead atop the Minnesota College Athletic Conference South Division.

Hosting Ridgewater for a men's basketball game, the Cyclones got the 79-73 win over the Warriors on Wednesday at the Whitney Recreation Center.

SCTC is now 6-2 in the MCAC. Ridgewater drops to 3-5.

The Cyclones got 16 points apiece from Elijah Mead and Ibn Khalid. Mead is a sophomore from Phoenix and Khalid is a sophomore from Lewiston, Maine.

Jaylyn Clardy was the Warriors' top scorer. The wing from Pensacola, Florida had 16 points along with seven rebounds.

Malik Westerfield (15) and Rodney Lubin (10) also finished in double figures. Westerfield is a sophomore guard from Davenport, Iowa. Lubin is a sophomore wing from Apopka, Florida.

Ridgewater led 35-32 at halftime.

The Warriors' next game is against Anoka-Ramsey at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Willmar.

Jackie Lindsay, a sophomore from Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, scored 17 points to help lead St. Cloud Technical & Community College to the victory at St. Cloud's Whitney Recreation Center.

Mallery Giestfeld led the Warriors with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Gabby Randt, the freshman from MACCRAY, had 15 points and two steals. Jenna Kunerth, a freshman from Browerville, added 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Ridgewater plays Western Tech of La Crosse, Wis., at 1 p.m. Saturday in Willmar.
