College basketball roundup: Ridgewater Warriors knock off Cobbers JV, 77-72

Nov. 18—WILLMAR — The Ridgewater men's basketball team improved to 3-1 on the young season with a 77-72 victory over the Concordia College JV on Thursday night.

The Warriors made 16 of 22 free throws, good for 72.7%. The Cobbers were 5 of 12, 41.7%, from the foul line.

Jaylyn Clardy led Ridgewater with 21 points. He was 8-for-12 from the field with six rebounds and three assists. Clardy is a 6-foot-3 sophomore wing from Pensacola, Florida.

Malik Westerfeild added 12 points and Noah Wilts came off the bench to score 12 points in 17 minutes. Westerfeld is a 6-2 sophomore from Davenport, Iowa. Wilts is a 5-10 freshman Marshall. Terbuto Ochothow added 10 points for the Warriors. He's a 6-1 sophomore from Worthington.

Mason Gravseth had 18 points and 12 rebounds and Isaac Fischer added 17 points for the Cobbers.

Ridgewater is scheduled to play the Bethany Lutheran College JV at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28 in Mankato.

Ridgewater shot 11.3% from the field (6-for-53) in its loss to the Concordia College-Moorhead JV in Willmar.

Sophia Trbin and Taylor Jordan led the Cobbers. Tobin had 14 points and Jordan had 13 points, 10 steals and four assists.

Gabby Randt, a freshman from MACCRAY, led Ridgewater with six points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots.

Concordia shot 40.5% (30 of 74) from the field and had eight turnovers to Ridgewater's 22.

Ridgewater's next game is 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28 against Bethany Lutheran College JV in Mankato.
