MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY

Brianna Dolan, of Arlington Heights, graduated cum laude from Marquette University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in biomedical engineering.

ROCHESTER INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Vivian Trettenbach, of Arlington Heights, earned a BFA in fine arts studio. Some 4,000 degrees were conferred in the 2019-2020 academic year at all of RIT's campuses. A virtual celebration was held May 8 at rit.edu/classof2020.

ILLINOIS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY

Illinois Wesleyan University honored 388 candidates for graduation on Aug. 2, 2020 during the University's first-ever virtual Commencement ceremony, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. President S. Georgia Nugent delivered the Commencement address. The candidates include:

  • Tanner Luke, of Arlington Heights, majored in Computer Science.

  • Danielle Ponsot, of Arlington Heights, Magna Cum Laude majored in English - Literature and Secondary Education.

BATES COLLEGE

Sara Moradi, of Arlington Heights, graduated after majoring in politics and economics at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. Moradi, the child of Ray Moradi and Corina Flores-Moradi of is a 2016 graduate of Glenbrook South High School. Bates College graduated 463 students from 37 states and 52 countries on May 31, 2020. Cumulatively, the Class of 2020 performed 80,000 hours of community service, exemplifying Bates' commitment to community learning and civic action.

Sara Moradi, of Arlington Heights, was named to the dean's list at Bates College for the winter semester ending in April 2020. This is a distinction earned by students whose cumulative grade point average is 3.8 or higher. Moradi, the child of Ray Moradi and Corina Flores-Moradi of Arlington Heights, is a 2016 graduate of Glenbrook South High School. Moradi is majoring in politics and economics at Bates.

Millikin University is pleased to announce the names of the outstanding undergraduates who have been named to the Dean's List for the spring 2020 semester. The University of Tampa virtually hosted its 150th commencement on May 9 to honor 1,752 degree-seeking candidates.

MCKENDREE UNIVERSITY

Zachary Schnittker, of Arlington Heights, graduated with a BBA degree in economics and finance. The university is conferring 733 degrees at its Illinois and Kentucky campuses in 2020 — six associate, 508 baccalaureate, 198 masters and 21 doctoral degrees — on students who completed their degree requirements in December 2019 and in May and July 2020.

Claire Slaski, of Arlington Heights, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Slaski was initiated at Carroll University. Slaski is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year.

Adam Schill, from Arlington Heights, graduated with a bachelor of science degree from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Majoring in Agricultural Business, Schill was joined by a network of 46,000 CALS alumni sharing their talents and making a difference around the world in a May 8 virtual graduation ceremony.

UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-WHITEWATER

Heather Hartwell, of Arlington Heights, who is studying communications, is among the winners of the 2020 Communication Department Excellence Awards. At the end of the spring semester, it is a department tradition to recognize students for their hard work and dedication shown throughout the academic year. Recipients of the awards are decided by the coordinators of each program. Students receive a certificate and a small gift granted by the department. Hartwell won the following award: Best Student in Major — Corporate and Health. "We here at the Communication Department are extremely proud of the award recipients' academic success and hard work," said Julie Ridgeman, academic department associate.

COLORADO COLLEGE

Jonny Norwine, of Arlington Heights, received the Charles Rhoads 1959 Scholarship , from Colorado College at its annual Honors Convocation, held virtually this year on May 14. The traditional ceremony celebrates outstanding students, faculty, and staff, and includes the bestowing of departmental awards, all-college awards, and awards from the CC Student Government Association. Norwine is a senior and majoring in geography.

CARTHAGE COLLEGE

The Carthage chapter of the National Society of Leadership & Success just celebrated its first class of inductees. To achieve official induction, members attended Orientation, Leadership Training Day, three Speaker Broadcasts, and three Success Networking Team meetings. Both Catherine Spann and Petula Walsh-Grant, of Arlington Heights, were inducted.

The University of Mississippi recently announced students named to the Spring 2020 Honor Roll lists, including Chancellor's Honor Roll. Colton Lee Kamysz and Aliciamarie Dutka, both of Arlington Heights made the list.

Ryan John O'Beirne, of Arlington Heights, was recently named to the University of Mississippi's Spring 2020 Honor Roll lists. O'beirne was named to the Dean's Honor Roll, which is reserved for students who earn a semester GPA of 3.50-3.74.
