College Credits Roundup: Glenview Residents Earn Honors

ILLINOIS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY

Illinois Wesleyan University honored 388 candidates for graduation on Aug. 2 during the University's first-ever virtual Commencement ceremony, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. President S. Georgia Nugent delivered the Commencement address. The candidates include:

  • Joonpyo Hong, of Glenview, majored in Accounting.

  • Oneil Jano, of Glenview, Magna Cum Laude majored in Political Science.

  • Susan Whiting, of Glenview, majored in Health Promotion and Fitness Management.

  • Lauren Yep, of Glenview, Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa majored in Biochemistry.

ROGER WILLIAMS UNIVERSITY

Lindsey Whitehead, of Glenview, has been named to the Spring 2020 Dean's List at Roger Williams University, in Bristol, Rhode Island. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.

UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA

The University of Tampa virtually hosted its 150th commencement on May 9 to honor 1,752 degree-seeking candidates.

Nicole Cohen, of Glenview, graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Allied Health.

Kerry Faoro, of Glenview, graduated with a Bachelor Science Nursing in Nursing.

Emma Thomas, of Glenview, was inducted into the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society during the The University of Alabama's virtual Tapping on the Mound ceremony April 10.

UNIVERSITY OF MEMPHIS
Kevin M. Ryan, of Glenview, is among the more than 5,400 candidates for graduation who will be celebrated during a live, virtual celebratory event on May 9. Ryan, who is a Master of Accy. & Data Analytics major, is a candidate for a Master of Accountancy and Data Analytics degree in the Graduate School.

UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-LINCOLN
Annette Laura Wierzbicki, of Glenview, was among 3,417 graduates who received degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln during a virtual graduation celebration May 9.
Wierzbicki earned a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science from the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY

Hope Carrane, of Glenview, participated in the University of Kentucky College of Arts & Sciences virtual commencement earlier in May. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy.

MIAMI UNIVERSITY

Helen Reid, of Glenview, has been applying the tools of science, education and conservation to become a leader in the conservation community. In mid-May 2020, Reid concluded her master's course of study with a Master of Arts degree in Biology from Miami University through Project Dragonfly. Since joining the Advanced Inquiry Program master's in 2016, Reid has traveled to Australia and conducted projects that have made a difference in the Glenview area. Throughout her time in the AIP, Reid developed a Master Plan — a kind of personal mission statement for what she wanted to accomplish in the program. In many of her master's courses, Reid designed projects that supported this plan, which culminated in a final portfolio, "Improving the Reputation of Zoos," presented in a Capstone course.

OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY

Oyundari Battulga, of Glenview, was named to the dean's list during the recently completed spring 2020 semester. To qualify for inclusion on the dean's list, a student must have been enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student and must have attained a semester grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.00 grading scale.

COLLEGE OF THE HOLY CROSS

A total of 707 students received bachelor of arts degrees from College of the Holy Cross during a virtual celebration of the class of 2020 on May 22. The live video program, during which graduates received electronic diplomas, featured a special message from director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and Holy Cross alumnus Dr. Anthony Fauci '62. The virtual celebrations will be followed by an in-person commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020 to be held in spring 2021.

Christina James, of Glenview, qualified for the Spring 2020 Dean's List at Belmont University. Eligibility is based on a minimum course load of 12 hours and a quality grade point average of 3.5 with no grade below a C.

Miranda Piotrowicz, of Glenview, was named to the University of Utah's Spring 2020 Dean's List. Piotrowicz's major is listed as Environmental & Sustain Std BS. Piotrowicz was among more than 7,500 students named to the Spring 2020 Dean's List. To qualify, students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher in at least 12 graded credit hours during any one term.
