College of the Desert will host a series of four public meeting through June to welcome input on design plans for the planned Palm Springs campus. The first meeting is at 9:30 a.m. this Wednesday.

The meetings are scheduled to take place in the multi-purpose room at the Donald and Peggy Cravens Student Services Center at the Palm Desert Campus and via Zoom at a link provided from the COD website. Recordings of each meeting will be posted to the college's YouTube channel.

The meeting schedule is as follows:

  • 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22

  • 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, April 19

  • 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, May 17

  • 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday, June 14

In February, the COD Board of Trustees approved incomplete schematic design plans for the proposed Palm Springs campus. Some plans will need to be newly drawn.

On Wednesday, the campus's project management team will discuss and review the master site plan, current designs and next steps to incorporate board direction and public comments.

The COD Board has directed staff to invite west valley cities to designate one member each as a liaison to facilitate communications with their respective cities as the schematic design for the campus is finalized. City designees are:

  • Palm Springs — Flinn Flagg, deputy city manager

  • Cathedral City — Rita Lamb, mayor

  • Desert Hot Springs — Roger Nuñez, mayor pro tem
