College Football Playoff could soon be expanding to 12 teams

It looks like the biggest stage in college football will be getting even bigger in the near future.

The College Football Playoff could be expanding to 12 teams, per multiple reports.

At the FBS level, the Bowl Championship Series was replaced in 2014 by a four-team playoff field that was decided by a committee. After years of leaving out plenty of deserving teams, the committee appears to finally be considering a move to give more teams a chance at winning a title.

It’s a welcome change, particularly for teams from non-Power 5 schools, who have yet to crack the top four despite their best efforts.
