Christian Parker set a new career-high for points for the second game in a row as Mount Union's men's basketball team defeated John Carroll, 89-80, in an Ohio Athletic Conference game Wednesday in Timken Gymnasium.

The Purple Raiders (15-2, 8-2) took control of the game midway through the first half and led by double digits for most of the game before the Blue Streaks (7-8, 2-6) closed to within six points in the game's final five minutes.

Parker, named the OAC Player of the Week on Monday, also had 11 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. His previous career high of 26 points came at Heidelberg on Saturday.

Ethan Stanislawski added 18 points and six assists for the Purple Raiders, while Chris Painter Jr. and Darrell Newsom added 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Senior Jackson Sartain led the Blue Streaks with 20 points and William Wallace added 19.

UNIVERSITY HTS. — Olivia Nagy had 20 points and 12 rebounds for 10th-ranked John Carroll.

The Blue Streaks outscored Mount Union 27-12 to take a 47-25 lead at halftime.

Junior Kelsie Glass led the Purple Raiders with 14 points off the bench. Emma Cannon and Isi Palamone, this week's OAC Player of the Week, added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Both Mount Union teams are at home Saturday against Ohio Northern. The women's game begins at 2 p.m. and the men follow at approximately 4 p.m.
