For the first time during the regular season, the Lubbock Christian men's basketball team faces off against a top-five opponent when it takes on No. 4/5 West Liberty on Saturday as part of the first game of the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Chaps are coming off a 74-67 triumph over Texas A&M-Kingsville in Lone Star Conference action earlier in the week to improve to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in league play.

In the win over Kingsville, LCU shot 1–for-18 from the three-point line while Rowan Mackenzie ended the night with 26 points — his third 25-plus point outing of the season — to go with seven rebounds. Najeeb Muhammad ended with nine points, a season-best eight assists and four rebounds.

The Chaps are set to trek to Vegas for the second straight season, owning a 2-0 all-time mark at the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic — downing Rollins and Western Washington at the event last year.

West Liberty is 9-0 and coming off a 91-89 win over no. 21 West Virginia State. The Hilltoppers went 29-3 and advanced to the Atlantic Regional Championship last season.
