College volleyball: MS-Fergus Falls rolls past Ridgewater, 3-0

Oct. 13—FERGUS FALLS — The Minnesota State Community and Technical College-Fergus Falls volleyball team continues to roll in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.

The Spartans increased their MCAC record to 12-0 with a 3-0 victory over Ridgewater College on Wednesday.

MS-Fergus Falls won 25-23, 25-18, 25-14.

"The team came out and fought hard tonight to try and control tempo against M-State," Ridgewater head coach Amanda Bohlsen said. "Although we had many moments of control, we were unable to secure the final scores to take the win.

"We will continue to learn from these games and work hard to continue to improve through our final two matches."

Fergus Falls is on a six-match winning streak. The Spartans had won 15 of their last 16 matches. Ridgewater was coming off a 3-1 victory at Anoka-Ramsey on Saturday and now has a 4-14 record after the loss at Fergus Falls.

The Warriors were led by Harley Kunstleben. The sophomore right-side hitter from Paynesville had eight kills and seven digs. Yansi Flores, a freshman setter/middle hitter from Yellow Medicine East, had 15 set assists, six kills, 11 digs and two service aces. Tayler Schmidt, a sophomore defensive specialist from Paynesville, had 20 digs.

Rdigewater plays host to Riverland Community College at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Willmar.
